AMANDA LÓPEZ ASKIN, Ph.D.

COUNTY CLERK

Amanda López Askin currently serves as the county clerk for Doña Ana County, leading an office that services a diverse area, including a vibrant border community.  Born and raised in Las Cruces, NM, she was appointed clerk in 2018 and was elected for a four-year term in November of 2020 and re-elected for another four years in 2024.   She is a proud alumnus of New Mexico State University, where she’s earned three degrees, including a Ph.D. focused on leadership and administration. Her proudest achievement is being the mother to an eight-year-old daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and watching her daughter play softball and soccer on her local teams.

Caroline Zamora, MA

CHIEF DEPUTY CLERK

Caroline, a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, is an accomplished professional with a strong commitment to her community. She holds degrees in Psychology and Communication from New Mexico State University. In November 2022, Caroline was appointed Chief Deputy County Clerk. Her dedication to civic engagement is evident through her active involvement in various volunteer and leadership roles, including serving as Past Chair of the Ambassadors for the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, as a Chamber Ambassador or Amigos for the Las Cruces Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and as a board member for the Doña Ana County Humane Society and Amador Health Center.
